Wax carving is an ancient tradition in jewellery making going back 6000 years.
Starting with a lump of jewellers wax; you saw and file it down into the shape you require like a sculptor working with stone. The finished wax piece is then sent to a caster to be cast in any metal you want through the process of lost wax casting.
This lovely ring is a complete one off and a really stunning, statement piece.
The ring was created by hand completely out of jewellers wax. First I created a ring band out of wax and then I used a candle to melt droplets of wax on to the top of the ring band, creating these beautiful melty drips. I kept adding and adding to create a truly organic piece. I think it looks exactly like melted wax and I’m completely in love with it!
Lastly I oxidised the piece and then polished up the high points to really accentuate the texture.
This ring is a real chunky statement piece and a lovely ring that is perfect for everyday wear.
